On Saturday, we visited the NJ Aviation Hall of Fame adjacent to Teterboro Airport. They were having an open cockpit day, and had plenty of cool helicopters, jeeps, airplanes and even a fire truck to tour. Most of the machines were from the 60s and 70s (except for the brand-new fire truck), and we had a great time checking everything out and seeing some of the exhibits inside the museum. Eamon was excited to see everything, but I think he had just as much fun picking up rocks and running around in the grass as he did sitting in the drivers' seats and cockpits.

Florida Fun

Or maybe I should just title this "The Adventures of Sam and Eamon". As you can see by the pictures below, Eamon and Sam developed quite the buddy bond last week in Islamorada. I took advantage of some great fares on JetBlue and crashed Leezie & Speed's vacation for a few days with Mr. E. In my mind, taking an energetic 20-month-old on a flight by myself with a pack-n-play, our stroller, multiple bags, laptop, etc. would be a cinch. After all, I'd just accomplished the same task (minus the P-N-P) last month when we flew to New Orleans. But of course, toddlers are as unpredictable as crowds at the airport and this time neither went in our favor. Worst was the trip back--before the flight, we hit Miami traffic en route to Fort Lauderdale from Islamorada and the 90-minute trip wound up taking nearly twice as long. Long story short, once we hit NJ, after nearly 9 hours of travel Eamon (and I) had HAD IT. Fussy kid, impatient people, impatient kid, fussy mom (poor Mark who had to pick us up at Newark...I was so exhausted and fried I couldn't even talk!). But I could only blame myself, so I tried to stay sane through it all and make an adventure out of it!

Enough moaning and groaning about travel. Our time in Florida was priceless, especially seeing Eamon and Sam running around and having a blast. Except for the time when we had to rip them away from the kids' store--and all of the toys--Leezie and I could only laugh as they threw their duel meltdowns. Little (or, shall I say not so little...) Jack would do his best to crawl after the two big boys but didn't get very far. Maybe in a few more months, Jack! The pics below speak for themselves. Thanks for the good times, Wassner-Smith Family!

Here's the album!

Easter and more spring fun

We hosted a fun Easter dinner today for 8 (plus Eamon). Was so great to have my parents, Bec and Ula, and Anna and Tom here to pig out and relax! Mark and I teamed up to make pork loin with an orange marmalade glaze, cauliflower au gratin, sweet potatoes with almonds, cornbread caserole, panzanella (that's asparagus, peas, basil, shallots and other good stuff), and a green salad. Bec made some delish "vegan" brownies (I use that term lightly because while there were no eggs in this dessert, there was, I think, some sort of milk in there via the chocolate! I was happy she didn't choose to use carob...), and my Dad made his classic fruit salad. It was such an easy, stress-free and beautiful day, started off with Easter egg dying with Eamon (lots of oohs and ahhs, and fortunately no spills!) and capped off with some of the Yankees home opener. Wish we could do this every weekend...
