All Dolled Up!

We had a really nice time at Bridget's wedding over the weekend. The whole affair was very relaxed, classy, and beautiful...just like the bride. And between Eamon's first "cocktail" (a Shirley Temple) and both of them dancing to the Celtic duet at the cocktail hour, chances are these two had the best time of all!

Some shots of our little dolls all dolled up!

Fast Times at Rutherford High

We kicked off St. Paddy's Day with a morning in Rutherford, NJ, for a 5K run. I had the best support crew in Mark, Eamon, and Nora, and ran extra fast so they could see me WIN my first 5K road race in who knows how long. Ever? Granted, it was a low-key race, but a few months ago, I wouldn't have placed in the top 5. I've been training hard for my upcoming half-marathon and am so happy to see my times coming down to what I used to run in high school and college. Plus, I was less than a week removed from a pretty hard 20K race/training run last Sunday, so I didn't expect much out of my legs. The fact that I hit my goal time on the nose--19:45--on a hilly course means that I can quite possibly dip into the low 19s with more training and a faster course. My lifetime goal has always been to run an 18-something 5K and I haven't given up on that...yet! Maybe 2012 will be the year.

Love for his sister...

"I love Nora. She is the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world"

Eamon says...

...while eating a waffle and noticing one piece was in the shape of a cross, he says, "Mommy, this piece of waffle looks like a church!"

...while marveling over Nora's expanding vocabulary, he says, "Wow, every day, Nora learns a new word. And it's in ENGLISH!"

Eamon-isms

E has always been chockful of one-liners, and lately he has been coming out with some zingers. They always give me a good laugh and then I can't remember them by the end of the day. So as to not inundate my FB page with the funny things my kids say (because, let's face it, that gets old fast!), I'll try to put 'em down here with context.

Up the Wall
Me (exasperated, as always): Eamon, you are driving me up the wall!
Eamon (Looking confused and concerned): Where?
Me: Up the wall!
Eamon: But I don't want you to go up there! I'll miss you!

All Football, All the Time
Eamon (going through his calendar and all of the holidays, one of his favorite activities): Mommy, what's on November first?
Me: All Saints Day.
Eamon: All Saints Day? But I don't really like the Saints...they lose sometimes. What about All Giants day--what day is that?

Giants Rule
Eamon: Gazing wide-eyed and open-mouthed at our local laundromat, which has a big Giants flag in the window: "Oh my goodness, I can't believe it. Look, the laundry place is a Giants fan, too!"

Eamon--or Rainman?
(Said while sitting down to eat at Sam's school fair, which kinda sorta doubled as Jack's birthday party)
Diz: You should give Jack some cotton candy first, it's his birthday party.
Eamon: But it's not Jack's party. It's Sam's party for his school...Jack's birthday is on March 17th and today is March fifth. {ooo-kay, Mr. Literal! I told you the kid is calendar obsessed!}
