Celebrating 30...

I had a wonderful birthday this year! We had such a great time celebrating in New Paltz last week that I was happy with keeping this weekend pretty low-key. But a few of my new mom friends had another idea in mind and we wound up partying into the wee hours of Saturday night/Sunday morning (yes, I was still awake at the hour I was born 30 years ago...3:06 a.m.).
I shouldn't say that the festivities were all for me..rather, we had gathered together for a Valentine's Day party. But once the babies went to bed, the parents played!
On Sunday morning at 8 sharp, Mark and I woke up a little groggy to a wide-awake Eamon, oblivious to the fact that we'd just gone to sleep four hours before! Mark let me snooze a little longer while he made a delicious brunch--coconut pancakes, poached eggs, and yogurt with granola, strawberries, and bananas.
Later on in the afternoon, we dropped E off at Leezie and Speed's and darted over to the movies. I had selected the oh-so uplifting Revolutionary Road, which I regretted about 30 minutes in. A great film, just SO depressing! I should have opted for He's Just Not Into You. Oh, well.
Thanks to all for your calls, messages, and nice words. Turning 30 wasn't so bad, after all!

He Hearts You.

How many pictures can one take of a baby with a box of chocolates, you ask? Well, apparently quite a few if you have as eager of a participant as Eamon. Needless to say, I had a little TOO much fun with this impromptu Valentine's Day photo shoot last week. Here are some of my favorites--there are many more in this album. Enjoy!

Check out the cute cousins! Sam and Eamon are becoming fast friends. Especially when there's food involved. The other night "GrandLiz" was feeding the two of them twin-style (one, and then the other), and the little guys shared a nice moment. And speaking of nice moments, we had PLENTY over the weekend in New Paltz. Here are some shots from yet another lovely time at Bec and John's.

"Hey...you seem pretty cool..."

Here's Eamon with his bud, Owen. They met as newborns (Owen's just 2 weeks older than E), but are just now starting to realize that one another exist. Here they are getting to know eachother after our day at the Natural History Museum and Central Park.

Bring on Spring!

With today's temps "soaring" to 59 degrees, we couldn't have picked a better afternoon for our little adventure with friends Crystal & Owen to the Natural History Museum. We first mozied through Central Park, had lunch at the Shake Shack (UWS location), and then hit the museum. Eamon especially loved the brown bear display (he squealed when he saw the hulking figures behind the glass) and enjoyed a couple of snoozes during the less-exciting exhibits. Both he and Owen were absolute gems, making Crystal and I excited about other excursions we can take with the little ones (while they're perfectly content hanging in their strollers all day, that is!).

BTW: Check out Eamon's hip (and personalized!) Jackson Hole shirt! Courtesy of his Great Aunt Jeanie! Thank you, Jeanie!

Sam in the snow

Well surprise, surprise...

Still smiling from what was a truly amazing weekend. My wonderful sisters threw me a party in New Paltz, and even though someone unintentionally let me in on the secret earlier in the week, I was still had many, many surprising moments! For starters, the guest list! I honestly thought that it would just be Ula Bec, John, Mark, Eamon, and Keren (who I had invited up a few weeks back). But much to my delight, three of my dear NYC friends, the 'rents, Bubba and Mario, and Leezie all showed up, too! Then, Sissy, Erik, Sophie and Lucy made the SWEETEST video that we all watched via Youtube after dinner. We went XC-skiing, hit the climbing gym, had cake and ice cream, presents...needless to say, I felt like a little girl all over again. Couldn't wipe the goofy grin off my face all day!

Such an awesome way to kick-off my 30th year.

Here are some pics--many more to post soon.

Sweater sweetie

Check out Eamon in his adorable sweater, hand-knit by Bubba. When she first gave it to me, she said it was meant for a one-year-old, but I sensed E had grown into it by now. Sure enough, it fits great--Eamon especially loved the hoodie. Perfect for the almost spring-like temps we had today!

Keren turns 30

And yet another friend leaves her twenties...on Saturday, Mark and I had a BIG outing to the West Village to fete Keren. Leaving Eamon in the trusted hands of Aunt Leezie and Uncle Speed, we hit the town late night and didn't get home until after 2 a.m.! We had a great time and were so thankful to be able to hang out with friends on a Saturday night! It had been a while...

E's Peas

We started Eamon on fruits and veggies last week. So far, he's had apples (yum!), sweet potatoes (yummier!) and peas (um, we're not quite sure about them, as you can see in this picture). I'm sure that has to do with my influence--I LOATHE peas, so I gag every time I dish out the gooey green stuff. Good thing E's getting pretty good with his spoon-handling skills--he's almost feeding himself!

baby of many hats

Thanks to Aleta, Eamon has an enviable wardrobe most baby boys would just drool over--including a trove of winter hats. I got a few out today to see which would fit on his Flynn-sized noggin. No surprise, the ones in the 12-18 month range are the only ones that don't require brute force to get over his ears--the boy's got a melon! But it just makes him even more cute, right?
